Victor D. Barnhart had three seasons of minor league ball under his belt when he entered military service in January 1943. A stomach ailment led to his medical discharge later that year and he made his major league debut with the Pirates in October 1944, appearing in the final game of the season. He played 71 games for the Pirates in 1945, and two more in 1946, continuing to play in the minor leagues until 1951.
